St Gauderic Music Festival 2010

We are happy to report on our concerts for the Festival in 2010.

The Soiree musicale took place at Manses on Friday 27 August.  This was mainly for the soloists, but there were also a few choir items and a recorder trio.  The programme is as attached.

On Saturday 28 August at 21.00 the choir gave a concert in St Gauderic church of all the items which they have learned during the Festival.   In addition to the Brahms and Handel from the Sunday concert (but with piano) the concert included two 20th century anthems by John Ireland and Charles Wood, two negro spiritual arrangements by Max Taylor and Phyllis Tate and the Pavane by Faure.  For the programme follow the link below

The major concert was on Sunday 29 August at 21.00 with the Festival Choir and Orchestra.  The orchestra started with Bach Brandenburg Concerto No 4, the soloists were Rudi Morawietz on violin, and on recorders, Henriette van der Linden and Max Taylor.  The choir gave a performance of Brahms Liebeslieder Waltzs in a new arrangement by Neil Taylor with strings and piano, followed by Handel’s Messiah parts 2 & 3 in the second half.  Paul Chapman sang the Bass Aria … from Bach’s St Matthew Passion, and Sian Millett the Mezzo Aria from Verdi’s Requiem.  The full programme is shown in the link below.
