Bienvenu au Festival de Musique de St Gauderic 2012
We are very glad to be able to offer a series of concerts in this lovely part of France.
This year we have been invited to give a concert in a new venue – the historic church in Fanjeaux. We are also returning to Manses to give a concert in aid of the restoration of this wonderful building and are especially happy to be returning to the Cathedral of St Maurice in Mirepoix and its amazing organ.
We have three wonderful young soloists; Daniel Farrimond and Louis Hurst join us for the second time, while Laura Sheerin pays her first visit to the region. Some may remember her father who lived at Plavilla and sang with us in 2007. Jonathan Lilley, our multi-talented accompanist and organist returns again, and we extend a very warm welcome to Dr Colin Beeson our chef de choeur.
The St Gauderic Music Festival was created in 2007 by Neil and Helen Taylor, themselves musicians, who have had a holiday home at St Gauderic for more than 20 years, and who thought that an annual Festival at the end of August would be a fitting end to the summer! The idea has proved very popular with participants and audiences, and the Festival seems to have become a regular occurrence. We were joined by an excellent orchestra for 3 of the Festivals, but this year the orchestra has been unable to take part. We are very pleased, however, that we have been given permission to use the historic Link organ in the Cathedral to accompany the Sunday concert.
The programmes have generally been based on the Classical choral repertoire, although each year we have included modern works as well, some of these having been composed or arranged by one of our singers – Max Taylor.
It is a delight to us that we have been able, through the kindness and encouragement of our many French friends, to hold this Festival in this beautiful area.

Nous sommes très heureux d’être en mesure d’offrir une série de concerts dans cette charmante partie de France.
 Cette année, nous avons été invités à donner un concert dans un nouveau lieu : l’Église historique de Fanjeaux. Nous sommes également revenir à Manses pour donner un concert au profit de la restauration de ce bâtiment magnifique et particulièrement heureuses d’être de retour à la cathédrale de St Maurice de Mirepoix et son incroyable organe.
 Nous avons trois merveilleuses jeunes solistes ; Daniel Farrimond et Louis Hurst nous rejoignent pour la deuxième fois, alors que Laura Sheerin paye sa première visite dans la région. Certains se souvenir de son père qui a vécu à Plavilla et chante avec nous en 2007. Jonathan Lilley, notre accompagnateur aux talents multiples et organiste renvoie encore une fois, et nous adressons un accueil très chaleureux à Dr Colin Beeson notre chef de choeur.
 Le Festival de musique de St Gauderic a été créé en 2007 par Neil et Helen Taylor, eux-mêmes musiciens, qui ont eu une maison de vacances à St Gauderic depuis plus de 20 ans, et qui pense qu’un Festival annuel à la fin du mois d’août serait un ajustement fin de l’été ! L’idée s’est révélée très populaire auprès des participants et des spectateurs, et le Festival semble avoir été une occurrence régulière. Nous avons été rejoints par un excellent orchestre pour 3 des Festivals, mais cette année, l’orchestre n’a pas pu prendre part. Cependant, nous sommes très heureux, que nous avons reçus l’autorisation d’utiliser l’orgue historique de lien dans la cathédrale pour accompagner le concert de dimanche.
 Les programmes sont généralement basés sur le répertoire choral classique, même si chaque année nous avons inclus moderne fonctionne ainsi, certaines d’entre elles ont été composées ou arrangées par l’un de nos chanteurs – Max Taylor.
 C’est un plaisir pour nous que nous avons pu, grâce à la gentillesse et l’encouragement de nos nombreux amis français, d’organiser ce Festival dans cette belle région.
