St Gauderic Music Festival 2010

We are happy to announce our concerts for the Festival this year.

The Soiree musicale will be at Manses on Friday 27 August at 21.00h.  This will be mainly for the soloists, but there will also be a few choir items and others.  The programme will be announced on the day, but will include music by Bach, Handel,  Brahms, Mozart, Donnizetti, Verdi, Bizet, Debussy and others.

On Saturday 28 August at 21.00h the choir will give a concert in St Gauderic church of all the items which they have learned during the Festival.   In addition to the Brahms and Handel from the Sunday concert (but with piano) the concert will include two 20th century anthems by John Ireland and Charles Wood, two negro spiritual arrangements and the Pavane by Faure.

The concert on Sunday 29 August at 21.00h will be with the Festival Orchestra, which will be performing Bach Brandenburg Concerto No 4.  The soloists will be Rudi Morawietz on violin, and on recorders, Henriette van der Linden and Max Taylor.  The choir will give a performance of Brahms Liebeslieder Waltzs in a new arrangement with strings and piano, followed by Handel’s Messiah parts 2 & 3.

We are very sorry, but the organ concert on 30th August has had to be cancelled. We apologise for any disappointment.

A comprehensive Festival Programme will be available for sale at each of the concerts, or direct from the Festival Administrator.  This document will contain details of the works to be performed at each concert, together with all the lyrics, in English and French, and German where appropriate.  In addition, it will contain the biographies of the musical director, the accompanist and the soloists.
